Combining Maryland's Approved curriculum that meets or exceeds the standards established by the Motorcycle Safety FoundationŽ with the passion of Harley-Davidson, the Rider's Edge New Rider Course offers hands-on instruction and real-road experience that can teach you the skills you need to get the most out of riding.
The Rider's EdgeŽ New Rider Course
A proven blend of classroom instruction and range riding, the Rider's Edge New Rider Course delivers the basics of motorcycle operation in Harley-Davidson style. You'll learn from devoted instructors certified by both the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) and Harley-Davidson to create a relaxed, supportive environment that fosters camaraderie and confidence. After passing written and riding skills test you'll receive a Maryland Motorcycle Safety Program Completion Card which may qualify for discounts on insurance. If you meet the MVA's licensing standard, you will also receive a Maryland Motorcycle Safety Program Completion Certificate for your class 'M' license. But more than that, you'll begin a journey that lasts a lifetime.
Cost of the New Rider Course is $350. **NOTE** A learner's permit is not required to take the New Rider Course.
Rider's EdgeŽ Skilled Rider Course
In addition to the New Rider Course, The Harley-Davidson/Buell Store of Balitmore offers the Rider's EdgeŽ Skilled Rider Course. We can tailor a class for your riding group or you may select a class given on the last Saturday of every month during our training season.
The Skilled Rider Course is a six to seven hour course in the classroom and range. The course uses Maryland's Approved curriculum which meets or exceeds the Motorcycle Safetly FoundationŽ Experienced RiderCourse with some enhancements developed by Harley-Davidson enthusiasts. Participants use their own motorcycles to enhance the following skills: control at low speeds, risk management, limited space maneuvers, cornering judgment, stopping quickly in curve, swerving and stopping quickly, and multiple curve maneuvers.
Upon completion of the course, students will earn a Skilled Rider Course pin and patch set, as well as a Maryland Motorcycle Safety Program Completion Card that may assist you in getting possible discounts on insurance.

Motorcycle Purchase Program
If a graduate of our course purchases a new motorcycle from our dealership within 30 days after completing the course, your paid tuition may be applied toward the purchase price of the motorcycle.
WAIT LIST CONDITIONS: If you put your name on a wait list, there is no need to enter your information in multiple classes. Once you're on the wait list, you'll be considered for all vacancies. Please use the comments section to indicate your flexibility for filling a vacancy. For example, if you need several days to arrange your schedule or if you can fill a no-show seat on 1/2 hour's notice, etc. Also indicate the time span in which you wish to be considered for filling a vacancy. Please understand that vacancies will be offered first to students who have already registered and have expressed a desire to move to an earlier class.
