Harley® Service FAQs
Is the official Harley-Davidson® service manual worthwhile?
It's a perfect investment for someone who wants to change fuels, add accessories, or simply want to know their bike better. They are much more detailed than any after-market guide. These manuals are available for all latest and older versions as well.
Are Harley-Davidson® motorcycles costly for maintenance?
Given the stories you've heard about Harley-Davidson®, you might believe that these bikes ought to cost you a fortune just to be maintained.
When would my tires have to be changed?
When they reach under 3 3/2nds, tires must be changed, especially when you see holes, road debris, dry rot, some metal or other punctures.
How regular do I need my motorbike to be serviced?
Your motorcycle must be serviced every 5,000 miles following your first 1,000-mile service.
How can I get my motorbike tires to last longer?
Check the tires for the right inflation pressure at least once per week. You may check your owner's manual or call us out. Inspect for signs of uneven wear and breakdown. Risk assessment always makes a difference.
What kind of battery charger do you suggest?
Only the Harley-Davidson® SuperSmart battery tender is recommended for off-season storage and all other charging use on this motorcycle. This is the only certified Harley-Davidson® charger that can keep your battery powered and secure your battery warranty. Standard and trickle chargers could be used for only short amounts of time as they can overwhelm and destroy the battery if used for extended periods. Don't stress if you choose to use a trickle charger. We're selling new batteries, too.
How does DYNO tuning work?
When a motorbike rolls off the assembly line, it is programmed to run on stock parts even in some environmental conditions. DYNO custom tuning adjusts your bike to the actual specification components that you have built in your particular setting to provide maximum performance.
Where will I find my schedule for service maintenance?
Each vehicle has a particular schedule for maintenance. Your specific schedule can be found in the back of your service manual or owner's manual. To find out whether your car should be serviced, you can also contact Service Department.
How often do I need to get my engine oil checked?
Before any trip, you must check your oil engine. It can be evaluated cold, but if the bike is resting for longer time, let it run for 3 to 5 minutes, then check it out.
Do you need a lot of maintenance for Harley-Davidson®'s motorcycles?
Harley-Davidson® is a powerful bike. It needs the same degree of servicing as many other types of bikes. Unfortunately, many users are ignorant that Harley-Davidson® waste more time in the repair shop than on the track. This is a misconception spread by brand critics who barely own Harley-Davidson®'s motorcycles.

Great buying experience and follow up after the sale. I felt that I was treated fairly on the sale of the new trike and I got fair trade in on my old one. Justin was great to work with, Thanks.

I have just purchased and acquired today my very first Harley here in the US. I haven't ridden a motorcycle for about 20 years and for unknown reason(s) I got interested in motorcycles abruptly. To be honest I am a car enthusiast all my life and own a handful of Muscle Cars that I mod and customize. At work, I have a countryman who invited me to look at his ongoing project bike and somehow help him build it. After scheduling to visit him one weekend I found myself browsing some bikes especially Harleys. The following day I felt visiting a Dealership and ended up at HD Baltimore in Pulaski highway where I met Mr. Justin Knight who patiently showed me around, gave and shared me his expertise about the Pros & Cons of owning, riding, etc a Harley. That said, all the more I got interested in owning one. Three days after, I decided to have one and went straight to HD Baltimore dealership to purchase one. Justin really was all focused in helping me choose what's best for me and I kind'a loved at first sight the bike he recommended. Paperwork and everything went smooth and after two hours I was out the door and I got myself a Harley!!!There's not a bit of regret having been purchased my first Harley from HD Baltimore. It's highly recommended. The atmosphere inside the Dealership was awesome much more to their staff which reflected by Mr. Justin's manner of attending to a customer. I need not say more, give them a visit, buy your next bike at HD Baltimore. It's 100% guaranteed they will be with you all the way.Kudos to the rest of HD Baltimore staff!

Thanks Justin !I was searching for this color combination and a leftover, as HD didn’t put out a standard road king this year.HD of Baltimore had one.You can see it looks much better in my garage, than at the dealer.Painless transaction. Had the shop do the stage 1 and TAB exhaust before I took delivery of the motorcycle.Very happy with everything. Thanks everyone !
